Which porta potty should I rent?

Most Plano renters need a standard porta potty, the PolyJohn PJN3 with a urinal, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. A standard porta potty serves about 50 guests for a 4-hour party. Choose a deluxe flushing unit for showers and weddings, and a restroom trailer when guests expect running water and lights.

A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide. A backyard gate needs about 48 inches of clear width, or we set the unit in the driveway or side yard. See every spec on the porta potty comparison page.

How does renting work, from call to pickup?

Renting takes one phone call of about 5 minutes. We ask for your address, dates, guest or crew count and where the unit goes. You get an itemized quote by text, sign it on your phone, and the driver calls 30 to 60 minutes before arriving.

  1. Call or send a quote request. Have your address or ZIP, dates, head count and any gate code ready.
  2. Get one itemized quote. Unit, rental period, delivery, pickup, servicing, tax and any rush charge are on one line list.
  3. Sign and pay by text link. Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover work. Tax-exempt groups send their certificate before paying.
  4. Mark the spot. A cone, flag or ribbon is enough. You do not need to be home.
  5. Driver delivers. The driver calls ahead and sets the unit on level, firm ground within about 15 feet of the truck.
  6. Service or event. Event units arrive stocked. Units kept 28 days get weekly service.
  7. Pickup. Event units leave on the agreed day. Long-term renters call or text for pickup, and billing stops that day.

Can I get a porta potty delivered today in Plano?

Yes, often. Same-day delivery is possible Mon–Sat when a truck and unit are free. Our yard is at 6000 Split Trail Rd in east Plano, so most Plano addresses are a short drive. Call (972) 812-6200 early in the day, and we confirm same-day on the phone before you pay.

Many same-day callers had a vendor who never showed up. A rush charge can apply on same-day orders, and it is printed on your quote before you pay.

If today is full, we offer the first stop on the next morning's route. Read how same-day orders work.

How many porta potties do I need for my event?

Plan 1 standard porta potty per 50 guests for an event up to 4 hours. Add 1 unit per 100 guests if the event runs longer than 4 hours. Add 1 more unit per 100 guests when alcohol is served. A 150-guest, 6-hour wedding with a bar needs 7 units.

Try the quick calculator below. It uses the same steps our office uses on the phone. For jobsites, use OSHA Table D-1 instead; see our jobsite toilet guide.

Porta potty calculator

Method: 1 standard unit per 50 guests for up to 4 hours; add 1 per 100 guests past 4 hours; add 1 per 100 guests with alcohol; accessible units per 2010 ADA Standards 213.2; 1 two-station sink per 4 toilets.

What did 185 callers ask before they booked?

We reviewed 185 recorded calls from people renting porta potties in 2026 (172 reached a live conversation). Price came first: 110 of those 172 callers, or 64%, asked the price before anything else. The most common complaint was an invoice that came in higher than the quote.

That is why our quote is itemized and final. No fuel surcharge or convenience fee shows up after you sign. Long-term renters were also confused by 28-day billing. Our 28-day billing guide explains it, and the cost guide breaks down each line.

Do I need a permit for a porta potty rental in Plano?

A private backyard party in Plano usually needs no city permit for a porta potty. The City of Plano requires a Special Event Permit for events with 100 or more people per day, a use outside the property's normal use, or temporary structures. Many Plano HOAs also limit how long a unit stays visible.

  • Special events: read the City of Plano Special Event Permits page and confirm restroom counts with the permit office.
  • Public events: the 2010 ADA Standards (section 213.2) ask for at least 5% accessible units in each cluster, and never fewer than one. See our accessible unit details.
  • HOA rules: ask your HOA about placement and time limits before a long remodel rental.
  • Streets and sidewalks: we place units on private property. A unit in a public street may need city approval.

This is general guidance, not legal advice. Your permit office or venue has the final word.

Who will deliver and service my porta potty?

Mark Rental Works delivers and services every unit from our yard at 6000 Split Trail Rd in east Plano. Mark, the owner, runs dispatch and answers many calls himself. Event units and construction units are kept as separate fleets, so a party never gets a unit pulled off a concrete pour.

Questions Plano renters ask

How much does it cost to rent a porta potty in Plano?
Your exact price comes on an itemized quote. In the 2026 calls we reviewed, a standard event unit for a day or weekend in North Texas was usually quoted around $249 to $350 all-in. That is what callers were quoted in the calls we reviewed; your itemized quote from us is the price you pay. See the cost guide.
Is the price per day or for the whole time?
Event rentals are a flat rate per drop-off and pickup, not per hour. A Saturday party unit usually arrives Friday and leaves Monday at no extra charge. Rentals longer than a week bill on a 28-day cycle with weekly service.
Does that include delivery and pickup?
Yes. Delivery, pickup, setup and any included servicing are listed on the same itemized quote. Tax and any same-day rush charge are shown too, so the number you sign is the number you pay.
Do I need to be home when you drop it off?
No. Mark the spot with a cone, flag or ribbon, and leave the gate open or give us the code. The driver calls 30 to 60 minutes before arriving and sends a note when the unit is set.
Can you put the porta potty in my backyard?
Yes, if the gate has about 48 inches of clear width and the spot is level. A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide, and the driver rolls it about 15 feet on a dolly. Otherwise we set it in the driveway or side yard.
Are you a local company or a broker?
We are local. Mark Rental Works runs its own trucks from 6000 Split Trail Rd in east Plano. When you call (972) 812-6200 you reach our office, not a national call center that resells another hauler.
Do you deliver on Saturday?
Our office and trucks run Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM. For weekend events we still prefer a Friday drop, because no hauler can promise an exact arrival time. Sunday events get a Friday or Saturday drop and a Monday pickup.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel or reschedule free until 7 PM the business day before delivery. After that, a trip fee may apply. Same-day orders cancel free until the truck is dispatched. Full terms are on our rental terms page.
