Why rent a porta potty when the camper has a toilet?
Most camper black tanks are small and fill in a few days with a full family. Then someone has to haul the camper or call a pumper. A standard porta potty holds 60 gallons and gets pumped weekly on a 28-day rental. Use the porta potty by day and save the camper toilet for nights.
| Issue | Camper toilet only | Camper + porta potty |
|---|---|---|
| Tank size | Small black tank | 60-gallon tank in the porta potty |
| Emptying | You arrange dumping or a pumper | We pump the porta potty weekly |
| Supplies | You buy paper and chemicals | Paper, sanitizer and deodorizer restocked |
| Smell near the camper | Tank vents by your bed | Unit sits 10 to 20 feet away |
We reviewed 185 recorded calls from people renting porta potties in 2026 (172 reached a live conversation). 11% of callers (19 of 172) had a home remodel, broken plumbing or a failed septic system.
How does a porta potty work while we rebuild our house?
During a rebuild, the porta potty bills on a 28-day cycle with weekly service. The first cycle includes delivery, and later cycles cost less. Pickup is not automatic: call or text (972) 812-6200 when you move back inside, and billing stops that day. Builders on site can share the same unit.

- Place the unit 10 to 20 feet from the camper door, on level, firm ground.
- Keep it out of the builder's path for the slab, framing and dumpsters.
- Ask for a deluxe unit with a sink if kids will use it at night.
- Add a hand wash sink if the camper sink is small.
Insurance may cover temporary living costs. Ask your adjuster, and we can email an itemized invoice for your claim.
See our 28-day billing guide for the full billing table.

Call (972) 812-6200Get quoteDo you pump RV black tanks?
No. We rent and service porta potties, and we do not pump RV black or gray tanks. For the camper's 2 tanks, call a licensed septic pumper and ask about RV pump-outs. Our driver only empties the porta potties we rent you, usually once every 7 days on a 28-day rental.
Please do not dump an RV tank into a porta potty. The 60-gallon tank fills fast, and a full unit can overflow before the next service day.
How many porta potties for RV campsites on private land?
For a weekend camp-out on private land, start with our event method: 1 standard unit per 50 guests, plus 1 per 100 guests because a camp-out runs longer than 4 hours. A group of 30 campers needs 2 units. Add 1 more per 100 guests if alcohol is served. Multi-day camps can add mid-stay service.
| Group | Length | Units | Service |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 family in a camper | Months | 1 | Weekly |
| Family reunion, 30 campers | Weekend | 2 | Arrives clean; none needed |
| Club rally, 80 campers, alcohol | Weekend | 4 | Mid-stay service suggested |
| Club rally, 120 campers, alcohol | 4 days | 7 | Mid-stay service |
Want a quick count? Use our sizing calculator. Is the camp open to the public? Add at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit per cluster under ADA §213.2.
Can you deliver a porta potty to a hunting lease?
Yes, if the lease is in our delivery area and a truck can reach the spot on a firm road. The driver can roll the unit about 15 feet from the truck. Clay roads turn to mud after rain, so a gravel pad or the camp's parking area works best. Lock it between hunts.
- Send a pin drop and gate code. Many leases have no street address.
- Tell us if the road crosses a creek or low water crossing.
- Ask for the free hasp and padlock.
- Season-long stays bill on a 28-day cycle; see our season-long rental guide.
Can I rent a porta potty for a tailgate?
Yes, for a tailgate on private property, like a home, a business lot you control or a family farm. Stadium and school lots usually have their own rules, so ask the venue first. A tailgate of 50 guests over 4 hours with alcohol needs 3 standard units under our sizing method.

Tailgates are weekend events, so we drop Friday and pick up Monday at no extra cost. You do not need to be there. Mark the spot with a cone or flag.
Does a porta potty need water or power next to an RV?
No. A standard unit needs no water, sewer or power hookup. The deluxe unit uses a 20-gallon sink tank that we fill, so it needs no hookup either. Only restroom trailers need a standard 110V/20A outlet or a generator plus a hose hookup or onboard tank. Set any unit on level, firm ground.
A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide and weighs about 165 pounds empty. It sits on grass, gravel, concrete or packed dirt. If your HOA has rules on visible items, ask about time limits before a long stay.
