Do portable restrooms trigger a Garland event permit?
Yes. Garland lists portable restrooms with tents, bleachers and stages as temporary structures that trigger a third-party special event permit. So do 100 or more attendees, vendors, amplified sound and street closures. Apply at least 45 business days ahead, or 60 business days for larger events that need city services.
Read all nine questions on the Garland special event permit page. One yes answer means you need the permit.
Neighborhood block parties are handled differently. They need Building Inspections approval instead of the full permit, and the host covers any city services. Even a block party with rented toilets should check with the city first.
The city page does not set a restroom count. Confirm with the permit office before you book. This is not legal advice.

Call (972) 812-6200Get quoteWhat do remodels and sewer repairs usually need?
Most Garland remodels need 1 standard unit for the crew and family. Many homes in the city are decades old, and sewer line and bathroom remodels can run for weeks. That makes a 28-day rental with weekly service a better fit than back-to-back short rentals.
Older lots often have alleys, carports and narrow side gates. Gates need 48 inches of clear width for a 43.5-inch standard unit. When the gate is tight, the driveway apron works.
| Job | Typical length | Best rental |
|---|---|---|
| Toilet or tub swap | 1 to 3 days | Day or weekend flat rate |
| Bathroom remodel | 2 to 6 weeks | 28-day cycle, weekly service |
| Sewer line replacement | 1 to 2 weeks | Week rate or 28-day cycle |
| Whole-house remodel | 2 months or more | 28-day cycles, request pickup when done |
Our 28-day billing guide explains how a pickup request stops billing.

Can you supply plant, warehouse and shutdown crews?
Yes. Garland has a long manufacturing history, and food processing plants and warehouses still run large crews. For shutdowns and outage work, OSHA Table D-1 for construction calls for 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers above 20. General industry sites follow 29 CFR 1910.141.

Plants often want units by the gate, near the work area and away from forklift paths. Our units for plants and warehouses include towable and trailer-mounted units that move with the crew.
- Pair every 4 toilets with 1 two-station hand wash sink.
- Set units on concrete or gravel, not soft fill.
- Ask for extra service visits during double shifts. Each visit is quoted first.
How do trucks reach Garland from east Plano?
Garland is about 8 to 14 miles southeast of our yard at 6000 Split Trail Rd in east Plano. Trucks take the Bush Turnpike (SH-190) east for north and east Garland, or US-75 south to I-635 east for south Garland. Most runs take 15 to 25 minutes outside rush hour.
Garland covers 57 square miles, so a Firewheel address and a home near Lake Ray Hubbard are very different trips. Give us the full address and we will name a realistic delivery day.
Mark the spot with a cone, flag or ribbon. The driver calls 30 to 60 minutes ahead, and you do not need to be home.
What about events near Garland's downtown square?
Events at or near City Hall or the Downtown Square need a Garland special event permit, even when they are small. Plan restrooms on a private lot or an approved spot. For 300 people over 5 hours, our method gives 6 base units plus 3, so 9 units, with at least 1 accessible.
Add 3 two-station hand wash sinks for 9 toilets. Downtown space is tight, so send us the approved site map early. We place units where the truck can reach within about 15 feet and away from fire lanes.
See our event restroom page for cluster layouts and wheelchair-accessible units.
Does clay soil matter on drop day?
Yes. Garland sits on Blackland Prairie clay. After a hard rain, yards turn slick and soft, and our truck will not drive on a wet lawn. The driver needs level, firm ground within 15 feet of the truck. Concrete, gravel or a dry, packed dirt spot works best.
Many Garland homes have a back alley and a rear driveway. That pad is often the best spot, as long as the unit stays on private property. Placing a unit in the alley or street may need city approval.
