What kinds of events do you bring restrooms to?
We set up restrooms for church events, company picnics, school events, park events, block parties, National Night Out, funerals, memorials and fundraisers. In the calls we reviewed, 20% of live calls (34 of 172) came from community, church, corporate or park events. Most needed 1 to 4 standard units plus hand sanitizer.

Group events have different needs than a backyard party. More people use each unit, the crowd is mixed, and the site is often public. That changes the count, the placement and the need for an accessible unit.
- Church events: fall festivals, Easter egg hunts, VBS weeks and outdoor services.
- Corporate and company picnics: family days, team cookouts and customer events.
- School events: field days, carnivals, graduation parties and booster club games.
- Park events: pavilion reunions, tournaments and club meetups.
- Block parties and National Night Out: one or two units on a driveway or lawn.
- Funerals and memorials: graveside or home receptions. Tell us the date and we keep the setup quiet and out of view.
- Fundraisers: 5Ks, car washes and cook-offs.
We reviewed 185 recorded calls from people renting porta potties in 2026 (172 reached a live conversation). The event calls in that study told us what people worry about most: the right count, a clean unit on arrival and no surprise fees.
Do I need a City of Plano Special Event Permit?
The City of Plano asks for a Special Event Permit when an event has 100 or more people per day. A permit can also apply when a site is used outside its primary use, or when you add temporary structures, rides or fundraising. Confirm your restroom count with the permit office or the venue before you book.
Check the official City of Plano Special Event Permits page for the current rules and forms. The permit office or your park contact may set a restroom count for your site plan. We are not lawyers, so treat this as a starting point, not legal advice.
- Apply early. Permit review takes time, and your restroom order should match the approved plan.
- Ask if the site has building restrooms you can count. Many park pavilions do not.
- We place units on private property by default. A unit in a public street or right-of-way may need city approval, which matters for block parties and National Night Out.
- Many Plano-area subdivisions have HOA rules on visible items. Ask your HOA about time limits and placement.
Once you know the count, we send an itemized quote with the unit list. That list is easy to attach to your permit packet.
How many wheelchair-accessible units does an event need?
Under 2010 ADA Standards section 213.2, at least 5% of portable toilets in each cluster must be accessible, and never fewer than 1. A cluster of 1 to 20 units needs 1 accessible unit; 21 to 40 needs 2. The standard also calls for a 60-inch turning space, so confirm with your venue.
The rule works per cluster, not per event. If you split units between a pavilion and a ball field, each group needs its own accessible unit. Read the official text at the U.S. Access Board ADA Standards, section 213.
| Units in one cluster | 5% of the cluster | Accessible units needed |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 20 | 0.05 to 1.0 | 1 |
| 21 to 40 | 1.05 to 2.0 | 2 |
| 41 to 60 | 2.05 to 3.0 | 3 |
| 61 to 80 | 3.05 to 4.0 | 4 |
Our accessible unit is a PolyJohn Comfort XL. It measures 62 inches wide by 62 inches deep, with a 32-inch door, a ground-level floor and handrails. Callers often ask for the "handicap one."
How many porta potties does a 100-person event need?
2 standard units if it runs 4 hours or less, using 1 unit per 50 guests. Add 1 unit if the event runs longer than 4 hours. Add 1 more if alcohol is served. Public events also need at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit and 1 hand wash station per 4 toilets.
We use one published method for every event. Plug your numbers into the sizing calculator, or use this quick table.
| Event | Guests | Hours | Alcohol | Standard units | Accessible | Hand wash stations |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Church picnic | 100 | 3 | No | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| Company picnic | 150 | 5 | No | 5 | 1 | 2 |
| School carnival | 200 | 4 | No | 4 | 1 | 1 |
| Fundraiser cook-off | 200 | 6 | Yes | 8 | 1 | 2 |
Math for the cook-off: 200 ÷ 50 = 4, plus 2 for running past 4 hours, plus 2 for alcohol, equals 8. Hand wash: 8 ÷ 4 = 2 stations. See our hand wash stations for the sink unit.
When do you deliver for a weekend event?
We deliver event units the day before, and weekend units usually arrive Friday and leave Monday at no extra cost. Book weekend events by Wednesday, because Friday routes fill up first. The driver calls 30 to 60 minutes before arriving, and you do not need to be there.
Drivers cannot promise an exact arrival time. Traffic and earlier stops shift the day. That is why we never schedule a drop during your event.
- The driver calls 30 to 60 minutes before arriving.
- You do not need to be there if the spot is marked with a cone, flag or ribbon.
- Leave the gate open or give us the gate code.
- Pickup happens after the event, usually Monday for weekend events.
Same-day delivery is possible Monday through Saturday when a truck and unit are free. We confirm it on the phone before you pay, and any rush charge shows on the quote. Read how same-day orders work.

Call (972) 812-6200Get quoteWhere should event restrooms go, and how far from food?
Put event restrooms on level, firm ground, downwind and across the site from food tables and serving lines. Our driver can roll a standard unit about 15 feet from the truck on a dolly. A backyard gate needs at least 48 inches of clear width for a standard unit.
Good placement keeps lines short and smells away from the food. It also keeps the truck off soft grass.
- Keep units away from the food, the serving line and the dessert table. A building, hedge or row of cars between them helps.
- Face doors away from the main crowd and toward a clear walkway.
- Pick grass, gravel, concrete or packed dirt. Avoid slopes and soft, wet spots.
- Leave a path the truck can reach for pickup.
- Set the accessible unit on the flattest, closest spot with a firm route to it.
- Put the hand wash station right next to the toilets, not by the food.
Can you lock the units before the event starts?
Yes. We add 1 free hasp and padlock per unit on request. Because we deliver the day before, a lock keeps a park, school or church lot unit clean and unused overnight. Unlock it the morning of the event. Many groups lock it again after the event until our Monday pickup.
Public sites draw walk-up use. A lock protects the clean, stocked unit you are paying for. Tell us on the phone, and the driver leaves the key or code with your contact.
For multi-day church festivals or school events, ask about mid-event service. We pump, clean, restock and lock the unit again. Larger crowds may fit our large-event plan better.
Do churches and schools pay sales tax on event rentals?
Not with a valid certificate. Churches, schools, government agencies and qualifying nonprofits with a valid Texas sales tax exemption certificate pay no sales tax. Send the certificate before you pay. We then remove the 8.25% sales tax line from the itemized quote. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Discover through a text or email invoice link.
Each quote lists the unit, rental days, delivery, pickup, servicing, tax and any rush charge. No fuel surcharge is added later. See our cost guide for how pricing works.
Cancel or reschedule free until 7 PM the business day before delivery. After that, a trip fee may apply. Same-day orders cancel free until the truck is dispatched. Weather moves a lot of outdoor events, so that window matters.
