How do the units compare side by side?

The 6 units differ in 4 big ways: flushing, handwashing, accessibility and hookups. Standard, deluxe, accessible and hand wash units need no water or power. VIP cabins and trailers have porcelain toilets, and trailers need power and water. Sizes range from a 26.5-inch-wide sink to a trailer that needs truck access.

Which unit should I choose for my situation?

Start with your guest count, your space and whether guests expect running water. If you have a backyard party of 50 or fewer, choose a standard unit. If you want a flush and sink with no hookups, choose deluxe. If any guest uses a wheelchair or the event is public, add an accessible unit.

  • If you have a backyard party up to about 50 guests for 4 hours, choose 1 standard unit.
  • If you have food, kids or a jobsite with dirty hands, choose standard units plus a hand wash station per 4 toilets.
  • If you have a shower or small wedding with up to about 50 guests per unit, choose a deluxe flushing unit.
  • If you have a public event, a guest who uses a wheelchair, or many families with strollers, add a wheelchair-accessible unit (5% per cluster, minimum 1).
  • If you have a small upscale group or a VIP area and no room for a trailer, choose a VIP cabin.
  • If you have a formal event with power, water and truck access, choose a restroom trailer.
  • If your gate is under 48 inches, plan on driveway or side-yard placement.

How many units do I need?

Start with 1 standard unit per 50 guests for an event up to 4 hours, rounded up. Add 1 unit per 100 guests for events over 4 hours, and 1 more per 100 guests if alcohol is served. Add accessible units per cluster and 1 hand wash station per 4 toilets. Jobsites use OSHA Table D-1.

Worked example: 150 guests at a 6-hour wedding with a bar. 150 ÷ 50 = 3 units.

Add 2 for the longer event and 2 for alcohol, for 7 units. At least 1 is wheelchair-accessible, plus 2 hand wash stations.

Run your numbers on our sizing calculator.

Are event units different from construction units?

Yes. We keep 2 fleets. Event units are newer and cleaner and go to parties, weddings and church events. Construction units go to jobsites, remodels and long-term rentals, where mud and dust are normal. Every rental of 28 days gets weekly service, and a free hasp and padlock is available on request.

Which rental plan fits my dates and use?

Short rentals of a day, weekend or week are a flat rate per drop-off and pickup. Long-term rentals bill on a 28-day cycle with weekly service, and pickup must be requested. Weekend event units drop Friday and pick up Monday at no extra charge. Pick the service page that matches your plan below.

What units do callers ask for most?

We reviewed 185 recorded calls from people renting porta potties in 2026 (172 reached a live conversation). 20% of callers (34 of 172) needed 2 or more units, 12% (20) asked for handwashing, 8% (14) asked about restroom trailers and 5% (9) asked for an accessible unit.

Home parties and backyard gatherings were the largest group at 33% (56 of 172). Community, church, corporate and park events were 20%, and construction jobsites were 15%. That mix is why the standard unit leads the table above.

Questions about choosing a unit

What's the difference between a porta john and a restroom trailer?
A porta john is a single plastic unit with a tank and no hookups. A restroom trailer has 2 or 3 stalls with porcelain flushing toilets, running water sinks and climate control, and needs power, water and truck access.
Which unit is easiest to fit in a small yard?
The standard unit at 43.5 inches wide fits a 48-inch gate. The hand wash station is only 26.5 inches wide. The accessible unit and trailers need a driveway or open area.
Can I mix unit types on one order?
Yes. Many events mix standard units with a deluxe unit, an accessible unit and hand wash stations. One itemized quote covers the whole order.
Which units need electricity?
Only restroom trailers need a 110V/20A outlet or generator. VIP cabin needs are confirmed on the quote. Standard, deluxe, accessible and hand wash units need none.
Which unit is best for a jobsite?
The standard unit from our construction fleet, sized by OSHA Table D-1, with weekly service. Add a hand wash station where 1926.51(f) applies.
